I called an appliance repairman and he was booked for 2 weeks and I got the same response from a couple others. I had to YouTube on how to take apart my GE Dryer. It was confusing at times cause it did not match what the video showed. After taking apart the front I could tell the part that needed replacing was the top ring that the drum hung onto. I checked out a few youtube videos on trouble shooting a gas dryer that would not heat, like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8j6fQM3P34. Eliminated all the sensors as possible problems, leaving only the coils or more advanced problems. Took the chance it was one of the coils. I ordered both, replaced them both, put the dryer back together and fortunately that was the problem and it lit up and is running as good as new. Read more

My GE dryer from the late 80's/early 90's was squealing when it would start up, belt or bearing I was thinking. I had to pop the lid up from the front with a screw driver, and behind the element was a metal piece, a heat shield, that had two screws that had to be removed from the back. The little part with the blue round tag (part of the kit that came with the element) was easily removed with one screw. Got the model number off the dryer. Looked it up online. I wanted name brand replacement part. Found this wonderful AppliancePartsPros.com. Looked up my model number, went to top control panel section, ordered the Start Switch. In ONE DAY I received it. Removed the back part of my dryer. Easily removed the broken part. Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. Easy fix, first I unplugged the dryer. Then removed the 6 Philips head screws on head unit back panel. Photographed wiring on timer. Removed the 1 torx screw holding the timer assy in place, the front panel knob was already off, would no longer stay on. Found a video on UTube on how to dissamble the dryer. It was striaght forward and helpful. In the process I found an unusal amount of lint in the pipe from the dryer to the vent pipe to the outside It was nearly blocked about 10" up the pipe.. Read more
