This is an evaporator fan motor that circulates cold air throughout the freezer compartment to maintain even temperatures. It is mounted near the evaporator coils and runs whenever the compressor is operating. Replace this motor if the freezer is warmer than normal, you hear unusual buzzing or grinding noises, or the fan has stopped spinning entirely.

I had the original sensors in my Frigidaire, which were now about 18 years old. The water dispenser would work, but I would have to push in the lever and then draw it back until it found that "sweet spot." I finally got annoyed enough with the problem that I looked online.
