General Electric Refrigerator Parts

Installing the tank went quickly. Removed the water filter from the upper compartment to stop water flow to the tank. Had to remove the two lower drawers (they tilt out of their sliding frames). There is a glass shelf that should be pulled out - it slides out via two notches in the front frame. The water tank is behind a white metal cover held by 4 screws. Keep track of all of the parts including the lip seals from the shelf. I used two Watts 5/15x5/16 couplers from Lowes for the connections.... Read more

After checking the defrost heater to confirm it was ok. I replaced the main electronic board. That wasn't it. After 1 1/2 weeks, it frosted up again. I called and talked to a tech person at APP and then ordered the air tower, defroster thermostat, and temp sensor. I installed them all and the frig works great. This unit has a recurring problem with the defrost timer. after the first 10 years the original part gave up. we had it replaced and (as normal for me i watched very closely) . after 2 years the same trouble started again. the defrost cycle would run to long. so i replaced the same part and solved the trouble again. so now about every 2 years this part wears out again and i order it and replace it. this has gone on for 20 years now and this unit is still going strong after serving us for 29... First, verified that water filter wasn't the problem by removing it and installing bypass plug. Second, verified that water was flowing from supply valve by disconnecting line to automatic water valve and observing flow into a bucket. Third, verified automatic water valve was functioning correctly by connecting supply line directly to automatic water valve. Replaced both the Dispenser Lever and Funnel. I probably wouldn't have attempted this had it not been for the how to videos on your website. The video clearly showed how and how simple it was. The video could be improved even more by addressing how to position the micro-switch that activates the ice maker. Read more
