Seals the rear drum opening to prevent air leaks and reduce noise. Replace if worn, frayed, or causing rattling sounds. Confirm fit with your model number.
After having replaced the drum support rollers twice in a roughly 3yr period, I realized something wasn't quite right, and indeed it wasn't. I had been ordering the wrong parts - I did use the online parts locator after checking, & double checking my model number. Apparently my older Whirlpool dryer has a somewhat ambiguous model number because the rollers that were shipped each time looked nothing like the originals. I realize that is not particularily uncommon - manufacturers often modify... Read more
Refrigerator too warm or freezer icing up? A faulty thermistor prevents proper temperature regulation. This 5-minute fix restores accurate cooling.
I tried to buy a new refigerator, but strangely none of the major stores had anything I wanted in stock. The earliest delivery date for a new unit was over a month away. At that I decided to try and keep this one running. I did online research into common refigerator problems. I found the cooling coils in the freezer were covered in a block of ice and frost. The refigerator was not going through a defrost cycle. With a hair dryer I thawed out the coils. The refigerator worked fine for... Read more
Dryer won't stop running or timer knob doesn't advance? The timer control regulates cycle duration. Moderate DIY repair, about 30 minutes to replace.
I'm not at all an expert in repairs...I learn how to fix things as they break by researching online so that I don't have to pay a repairman and by doing so have learned a lot of things as a homeowner, but this was my first dryer repair. My dryer had been working perfectly and then suddenly wouldn't start. The inside light still functioned, so it was still getting power. There was a quiet ticking noise coming from the back when plugged in which I determined to be from the timer trying to... Read more

My GE dryer from the late 80's/early 90's was squealing when it would start up, belt or bearing I was thinking. I found a manual online that covered my model and I watched a video on this site that showed me how to take it all apart, mine was a bit different but the principles were the same. I took it apart and added some quick-disconnects to 2 wires so next time I can take the front panel off easily. When I got to the bearing it looked worn but not bad so I cleaned it and put it back. ... Read more

Idler pulley assembly for dryers. Mounts on the idler arm to keep the belt aligned and tensioned. Replace if pulley is worn, cracked, or squeaking.
The very easy diagnosis was motor seizure. Because the machine is about a decade old, I decided to renovate most of the guts. My DIY project included replacing the motor, blower, drum bearing, belt, and door hinge. The end result is a functional dryer with no left-over parts. Lack of parts and hardware challenged the effort. For example, the blower assembly did not have the slide capture for the motor. I had to use the old one which is showing its age. With the exception of the drum... Read more

I am so blessed. I went online. Found the brackets. Watch the video for the brackets I chose. And lucky me. I did not have to pull the dishwasher out. The installer did not have it flush under the counter. So I was able to pull the dishwasher forward unhook the damage brackets and insert the new. Put the dishwasher back in. Two screws. Now the balanced and secure dishwasher washes better than ever and I did not have to pay an extraordinary fee for a repairman. I'm 68 and take care of a 72 year... Read more

Replace your dryer's drum felt seal to stop air leaks, reduce noise, and prevent clothing stains. Fits between drum and bulkhead. Confirm fit with model.
After replacing thermal fuse once and having it fail a second time, I had to dig a little deeper to uncover the problem. I checked for blockage in the vent but everything was clear. I did, however, find that the drum had some up and down play in it. After closer inspection, I could see that the front drum seal was actually worn to the point that I could see a gap between the seal and the drum. I figured that the gap in the seal was letting air in and not letting sufficient air flow through the... Read more
