Kenmore / Sears Motor

Removed front of dryer panel, removed top, and removed drum. Replaced motor and wheel, because the old wheel was rusted on the motor shaft, and could not be removed, so I had to break it off. Replaced motor, and reassembled. Everything works now. I also replace the switch-Pb, because the start button was getting stuck. Read more

I removed both basket guides, removed the ice cube maker then removed the back wall panel, all only taking around 10 min. This gave me access to the fan, removed 2 more screws, disconnected 3 wires, all with connectors, then went in reverse to install new fan. 1/4" nut driver and a pair of needle nose pliers is all you need. Replaced the fan and blade. Would have been easy except the mounting threads were different than the original Kenmore freezer came with. After a 14 mile round trip for 2 5/32 screws and washers, I had my freezer back. Included an improved wiring harness than the original. Read more

1) disconnected motor from electrical supply. 2) undid housing brackets with a socket wrench. 3) undid two screws to remove motor and fan from housing. 4) pried fan off motor. 5) placed fan onto new motor. 6) put fan and motor back into housing. 6) put housing back with two screws from step two. 7) reconnected electrical supply from step one. Removed the old fan housing. Removed the fan from its housing and took the fan blade off. I then smelled the fan and it smelt of burnt insulation. I ordered a new fan and re-assembled in reverse order. Fan started up when compressor fired up. Fan was a plug & play item. Erroe Code cleared on the front and refrig is working fine. Figured out how to diagnose it and found the error codes, all online! learned how disconnect everthing and laid the washer down on its back, saw the 2 malfunctioning pieces, The Drive motor and the shift actuator, removed them and looked up model numbers, found the parts I need here on appliance parts pros and was able to order them and have them delivered in 2 days. The motor hummed but the fan didn't turn. Clearly the brushes were burned out. I ordered a new fan, although I had to talk to a human at ApplianceParts because my model was not listed. The part was a perfect fit. The only problem is determining how to remove the over to reach the back, no instructions anywhere online. But trial and error eventually worked.
