Replaced the drain pump and the drain hose (since I was replacing the drain pump). The new drain pump seems to pump out the water more forcefully than the one replaced. Have not received a LD code during the wash cycle since the replacement was installed. Read more

Checked catch filter and realized pump was gone. This is my 2nd time replacing a pump but 1st on machine. I have a cleaning business and my washer gets double the work. I replaced the water inlet valve assembly. We have relatively hard water and I assumed that over the years those inlet valves were clogged with calcium deposits which in turn led to the high pitched squealing as water was added to the machine. The hardest part of the entire job was releasing the top of the washer to disconnect the hoses from the valve assembly. Everything else was relatively easy. We simply followed the online video. First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I replaced the switch, the plunger, plunger guide and the lid cam, but the cam still didn't turn on the switch. Turned out someone had stood on the washer and bent the lid slightly, not enough to notice, but since I had ruled out just about everything else I started looking at the lid itself. I ended up bending it back close to it's original shape and now it works fine. I guess I learned a few things about washing machines though. I replaced the entire agitator (my appliance agitator could only be replaced in one part not the upper part only). It was super easy but one thing....the video on the website was not helpful because my maytag washer is older and does NOT have a screw down inside the agitator but has one 1/4 inch hex nut on the side down by the base. Good for me though because all I had to do was unscrew the nut, put the new agitator on, tighten the new nut and DONE!! Read more
