Watched a You tube video, showed how to remove bottom, unhook wiring, then proceed to top case. Once removed, case is turned upside down so the capture nut can be installed. Part fit perfectly and BAM, done. Case refitted and finished. Part arrived in 2 days. Great service. Read more

It is difficult (if not impossible) to remove the electronic switches from the hard plastic latches. I replaced all three switches and both the upper and lower latches I also replaced the main 20 amp ceramic fuse which blew out when the latch/switches failed. Read more

After dismounting the unit from its wall-hanging bracket, the most tedious part of the repair was removing over a dozen screws holding the cover in place from the top, bottom, and both sides. Fortunately, I had placed the unit on a bench that allowed me to slide the unit allowing access to the screws on the bottom edges of the unit. Whirlpool microwave model MH8150XJQ-0 manufactured May 2002. The outer door frame and vent grill became brittle, developed cracks and breaks with little pieces around the screws falling off... that sort of thing. It's over 20 years old so no complaints. The rest of the microwave is fine and since it's mounted over the stovetop, I don't want to deal with measuring, selecting, removing, installing, etc. when this one still works. Checked the three door switches; used ohm meter to see if there was resistance or if a switch was bad. 2 out of 3 switches showed resistance with the ohm meter. The last one tested (of course the last one) NO (normally open) did not show resistance; I.e. the ohm meter reading did not change when the switch was depressed. It took a long time to determine the problem but eventually I discovered that the plastic bracket (latch hook) that held the three door-switches showed appreciable wear from repeated door openings and closings. This wear stopped the door from sealing properly and the door switch safety mechanism blew the line fuse. I replaced the worn bracket (AP6230612) as well as the plastic latch mechanism (AP4553585) on the door that engages this bracket (and of course the fuse too) and the microwave now... Read more
