GE profile cooktop problems: dirty switch seals in glass top shorted infinite switch broken selector switch missing knob Hugh A. • Weaverville , CA • March 06, 2019
My cooktop repair was a total success from start to finish. I reviewed and later followed the APP repair video, which helped me decide if I wanted to tackle the repairs and guided me right before I started. The APP phone staff member was very helpful verifying the parts I had identified online using the model number of my older GE Profile cooktop to locate and view the correct online exploded view diagram. I told him it was a pleasure working with him. The parts arrived within 3 days of...

- Burners not turning on or off properly
- Sparks or electrical odors near the switch

Microwave would say "cook" and timer would count down but turntable would not rotate and magnetron did not turn on Kathy K. • Athens , GA • January 12, 2016
Checked the three door switches; used ohm meter to see if there was resistance or if a switch was bad. 2 out of 3 switches showed resistance with the ohm meter. The last one tested (of course the last one) NO (normally open) did not show resistance; I.e. the ohm meter reading did not change when the switch was depressed. Appliance parts pros was the only company that had the same model number I was looking for (SZW-V16-FD-63). I ordered the relay switch, 2 days later it arrived (regular...

Burner switch was not turning the burner off Mary K. • Dublin , GA • July 13, 2014
We cut the power, took the control panel off, got the burner switch number from the original part, and ordered a new one. We were a little worried at that point, because your website offered a "replacement" part, with a different number than the original. However, we put the model number into your double check feature and were assured that we were getting the right part. The part arrived in two days and frankly we were still worried, because the new part was slightly larger than the original....

The problem seemed to be with the switch so I watched a few youtube videos to learn more about how ranges work. Burner in glass top range control only has off or full on modes Edward A. • Brookfield , WI • August 11, 2015
Based on internet search and data found on APPLIANCE PARTS PRO, I deduced that the "infinite control " module was most likely bad. Replaced it and all is good.
Toughest part was remembering how to disengage cooktop from down draft blower and then pulling the cook top up in within it's opening. Once pulled up, I put short 2x4's across the opening corners to support the cooktop safely while I worked on it. Next issue was figuring out exactly which screws held the glass top in place. As...

The burner on a Whirlpool cook top went to high heat and stayed there once the knob was turned on for the burner. Turning the knob to a lower setting did not lower the heat Jim W. • Houston , TX • June 17, 2019
Had to replace the switch for the left rear burner on a Whirlpool cooktop Model W5CE3625AB00. I turned off the circuit breaker for the cooktop and lifted it out of the countertop. It was simply held down by its own weight. There were approximately a dozen screws holding the smooth surface down onto the rest of the unit. I removed those screws, which allowed the cooking surface to lift back on a hinge in the back of the unit. Two of those screws were stripped, but I was able to remove them...

Range dual surface unit would only go on in "high" setting not on any other settingsje Kenneth C. • Tolland , CT • July 28, 2015
Replace dual infinity switch. The only difficulty is the terminal labels on the new switch did not match at all with the terminal labels on the original switch. The enclosed instructions were NOT helpful. But I contacted your representative, Johnny, and he was most helpful and patient. From my model number he located very specific and detailed instructions for how to wire the new switch. The rest of the job was easy. Your representative was outstanding. Thanks.

Switch burnt due to water boiling over James R. • Macon , GA • October 27, 2020
I took it apart to troubleshoot. I was pretty sure it was the switch but wanted to make sure it wasn't the element as well. Sure enough the switch was burnt at a little piece of copper protruding out the side. The plastic was blackened too which was a telling sign. The element was fine. I replaced the switch, turned on the cooktop and it worked again. Apparently, these switches are wired in series because when this one went out the rest of them wouldn't turn on either.
