Range / Cooktop / Oven Switch

The parts are under the stovetop and the knobs are attached to them. We bought the correct ones from AppliancePartsPros, these were the correct ones. Seems we have an oddball stovetop. It's a GE drop in stove. The parts were easy to change. It was a simple matter of putting the wires on the new switch in the same place there were on the switch. A few weeks back, when shutting off a burner, the igniter started sparking and wouldn't stop. Working the knobs and jiggling them got it to stop. Fast forward a few weeks. Finish cooking, go sit down to eat. Hear snapping noise, go look, see burners are all off and the igniters are all sparking. Jiggle the knobs. Poof! Flames come out the top one! What a stink. Turn the power off to the range. Pull off the black control knob. Remove 6 - 5/16 screws in back of the range behind the controls panel. Take out 2 screws (behind the control knob) in front that hold the control swirch in the panel. Remove each wire from the old switch and place it onto the new switch (one at a time)so get the wires are installed in the correct place. Make sure the wire are tight on the new switch. I replaced both the element and the switch. It was a relatively easy fix, although I needed a second set of hands to hold the stovetop upright while I did the replacement. The entire job took about 45-60 minutes. Read more

Ordered the part and a few days later it arrived and I turned off the power and took a few screws out and unpluged the old one and pluged in the new .. Works like a charm.. Was very easy to fix.... Read more

This turned out to be a very complicated repair ONLY because the wires that attached to the very far end of the broil element came detached inside and behind the wall of the oven. It is one step this side of impossible to fish the wires out and reconnect them to the new element. This would be a very easy job PROVIDED that you do not allow the two wires that connect to the element to become detached inside the rear oven wall. Read more

Ordered a new switch (4456027) from you. You seemed to have the best price and guaranteed that it was a OEM part -not everybody did. I had repaired Jenn Air cook tops before so I thought this was not a problem. Wrong. Mostly it was my own stupidity. I exchanged the wires from the old switch to the new one at a time but did write down where the original wires went. Flipped the breakers back on. Only one heater got hot. I changed out the white burners for black ones which will be easier to clean. This is a simple matter of removing two screws on each burner. The one igniter switch turned out to be okay, but was not fully seated on the valve shaft. As to lighting off issues, the new burners helped, but the most improvement came from removing the burners and cleaning the orifices that supply gas to the burner tubes with a bit of fine wire.
