Took off the the front panel. First removed the knobs, then the four screws above each knob stem. With oven door open removed four screws under the front door oven panel. Last removed the two side screws on the oven control. Keeping hold of the front unit. Then removed the pigtail attached to the panel and the ground screw. Now the unit is detached. Replacing the switch membrane restored full function. Relatively easy. Had to pull stove out just a few inches to provide access to two side screws holding control enclosure. Then four screws on bottom edge just above oven door. Then a screw above each burner control. And one screw on the top edge at each corner (right screw additionally holding a ground wire). A very common problem with the GE oven is the dreaded F7 error code. I purchased the control board as well as the keypad and replaced both. The error code could have been either part but since I saw a lot of grease, I chose to change out both even though I isolated the problem to the keypad only. By resetting the error first by hitting the clock button on the keypad, turning off the power,disconnecting the keypad, then turning back on the power if the code doesn't come back it's the keypad. ... Originally, I was told by Appliance Parts technician that the control board needed replacing. I ordered a new board and replaced it. No change. Called another AP technician and he said it is the panel control board which is the keypad that needed replacing and promptly provided me a return authorization number to return the control board. I replaced the panel control board (key pad) and all is working once again. I probably saved $600 by doing it myself. Read more

My 15 year old son and I examined the new parts and made a plan for how we were going to take the front off of the oven. Turns out it was fairly simple. We removed the knobs, the knob shrouds, two philip screws on the side of the head and about 6, 6mm hex sheet screws. Voila! It came apart. We carefully looked at how the old parts were assembled and simply reversed the assembly with the new parts. One day our house lost power for only about a second or two, and then everything in the house came back as normal, except now half the buttons on the stove front didn't work. I ordered the control panel from Appliance Parts Pros and installed it. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to unhook the 2 strips on the inside from the oven. All you need to do is lift up the back side of the clips and the strips will come right out. Install the new strips in the clips and then push down. Very simple if you are familiar with this type of connection. Read more

After doing some research online, I saw that to have an appliance repair person come out to fix the touchpad, would cost us well over $500. Some people said they would charge $500 for the part alone. I did a search for the part using our model number and read the reviews on this site and thought we'd give it a try. It was a very easy repair--anyone could do it. After doing much research online, I found out that the Touchpad on the JennAir downdraft gas range JGS9900BDS is very prone to "breaking."
