A friend's ice dispenser was not working so I told them I'd see what I could find on the forum. Originally I thought the micro switch had gone out. When I received the part and went to replace it I found that the little plastic tab that engages the micro switch was actually broken off on the Ice Actuator. I ordered a new solenoid and when it arrived, I installed it as follows: I cut the power to the refrigerator. I then pulled off the rubber boot (and it's plastic frame) that covers the water switch. Then I removed the bezel that covers the front of the ice maker controls by pulling it straight out. Then I removed the four screws found on the assembly under the bezel. After pulling the assembly forward a bit, I detached the multi-wire connector attached to it and put the assembly aside....

We used the AP5306646 Assembly Cover part to replace the dispenser portion of the unit. There is a video on YouTube where the person explains how to get the old unit out. It was 1 screw and then a pulling motion. It takes a little bit of strength and finesse but it came out like the video. Be careful unhinging the wiring harness from the main control unit, you definitely do not want to cut or break any of the wires on either side. Use small fingers to squeeze the clip's release hinge.
