• Door won't close

I found the door switch was not making contact when the door closed. I adjusted it, but then it would not open so the dishwasher would run when the door wasn't closed. The contacts were too long in the switch so they would bend and stay together when the door opened. The original switch was very poorly made for a very expensive Maytag dishwasher. • Not dispensing water

I watched the Appliance Parts Pros repair video and decided to remove the front panel to diagnose the problem. While the repair video is excellent, I could not remove the ice/water dispenser front panel with a putty knife. On my model, 106.56234400, there is no clip that can be released by sliding a putty knife up under the front panel. My wife said we have a problem with our dishwasher (Whirlpool WDT920SADE2). First went through the troubleshooting guide on the website and read the various stories and watched the repair videos for replacing the springs and suspension pads. Then before ordering any parts disassembled the machine only to the point of removing the cabinet to see if there were any obvious issues. Replaced both inlet valves, no joy. Upon further inspection, found ice maker harness extremely tight at lower freezer door hinge, clamped in place right at a pivot point. Essentially the harness is held in place and rotates with the door. 6 wires broken inside. Splice repair and ice maker now works. Most likely will have to replace harness eventually. Unless there is more slack inside the freezer door this will probably happen again. Very poor design. Read more
