Amana Gasket & Seal

Replaced clutch assembly, gearcase input shaft seal and motor coupler. When I disassembled the washer I realized the shaft seal on the top of the gearcase was leaking and not the input shaft seal. So had to order more parts before I could finish this job. Altogether I replaced agitator dogs, both seals on the gearcase, the clutch assembly and the motor coupler. • Oven not heating evenly

I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. I purchased a freezer gasket + key// from appliancepartspros.com //easy to order. I did not need to lock up my freezer but thought it might help the gasket seat (good thought). Instructions are very dumb, but it's an easy fix. Loosen all the nuts that hold the metal bars that hold the old gasket. (Loosen. Don't take them off!) Pull off the old gasket. Slip the new into place all the way around. Get the corners in position, middles can be loose. Tighten the corners, then work the middles into place and tighten as you go. Done. Read more

• Freezer section too warm

I ordered the replacement gasket and...replaced it. One issue was that the replacement procedure was not at all like the video to which I was directed when I got the gasket. The video showed a gasket with a rigid flange that had to be inserted into the door structure. On my Amana, I clearly had to remove the inner plastic liner and set the gasket under it. With the basket out of the dishwasher, the plastic parts basically snap on and off... popped the broken parts off and the new parts on. The 2 wheel and mount assemblies were a little more complicated. The video on the website advises to disconnect the supply line and drain line... I didn't have to do this. I just pulled the dishwasher out of its cabinet a little over a foot and removed the 2 screws holding each assembly in place and removed them. The previous gaskets (2 PER ASSEMBLY)... Read more

Ordered new door seals (gaskets) from Appliance Parts Pros. I was able to replace the freezer door seal without taking the door off the refrigerator. (Note: this is an over/under type refrigerator, with the freezer section on top) However, the first attempt at replacing the refrigerator door seal without removing the door from the fridge did not go well as the door appeared "warped" after I reassembled it and would not come close to sealing when I closed it. Removed old gasket from groove then pushed new one into the cleaned groove. Took 5 minutes. Read more
