I could hear the dryer motor hum, but it would not run. There was nothing obstructing the motor from turning freely so I assumed I needed a new motor. I went ahead and ordered a new pulley switch to change out while I was in there just in case. The parts arrived faster than expected. I changed the switch first and then checked the old motor which surprisingly fired right up. Now I have to decide whether to return the new motor or keep it as a spare. Read more

This is the rear-facing control panel (backsplash) located at the top back of the dryer where the cycle selector knobs and buttons are mounted. It provides the mounting surface and housing for the dryer's user controls. Replace this panel if it is cracked, discolored, warped from heat exposure, or if the control knob mounting points are damaged.
After unplugging the dryer, I removed knobs and control panel. I removed the 3 connectors to start switch. I had to cut and replace one connector due to shorted wire which burnt the connector. I attached new connector and then attached these to start switch. I then remounted all three switches to new control panel and reattached control panel to dryer. Plugged in and started right up! This replacement part is a high-limit thermostat, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. This high-limit thermostat is typically found in dryers and controls the heat inside the drying tub. This is especially important as different dryer settings require different amounts of heat. If the high limit thermostat works properly, the temperature inside the tub should reach the correct amount during each drying cycle with no issues. A new high-limit thermostat might be needed if the user notices that the dryer is unable to reach the appropriate level of heat for a certain drying cycle. This is also true if the dryer is becoming too hot when the heat is supposed to be set to low. I replaced the idler pulley assembly, the bearing plastic and the drive belt. While disassembled I cleaned the interior of the cabinet and lubricated the drum bearings with silicone after cleaning everything thoroughly. The dryer is now quiet and hopefully stays that way. Read more

I replaced the drive belt using the video instructions on your web site. My dryer is in a stacked configuration, inverted with respect to your instructions with the motor above the drum instead of below it. During reassembly the drum got stuck when the pivot did not seat properly in its socket so the front couldn't be reassembled until I lifted the drum to reseat its pivot so the drum could move back into position allowing the front to be reassembled.
