Disconnect the power to the fridge. First remove the control panel by removing the one screw underneath and then insert a screwdriver into the small square hole underneath in order to pull the lower left of the control panel towards you. You are pulling against a plastic clip and you need to pull fairly hard. Once the lower left clip is free the other three come unclipped fairly easily. Lack of water was due to frozen water reservoir on refrigerator side. Frozen water was due to temperature issues - cold on bottom of both freeder and refrigerator side, warmer at top. This was caused by evaporator fan failure. The fan had come loose from its housing and eventually vibrated itself to death - wire leads had vibrated open. 1) Remove toe kick panel - 2 Philips head screws 2) Lay down on floor. This might be the hardest part of the repair from some people! 3) Remove broken spring, no tool required. 4) Using your fingers, slip one end of new spring into hole on lever arm. I checked the freezer and found the door gasket was damaged. When the parts arrived, I checked them for a good fit and the attachment method. Due to past experience of replacing door gaskets, I was expecting a lot of screws that would have to be removed and replaced. To my surprise, the gaskets pressed in place without tools and had a good and secure fit. Using the pictures I was able to order just the parts I needed and not to duplicate anything (or leave anything out!). Replaced original (18 yrs.) 1/4" plastic tubing, clamp and grommet (AppliancePartsPros/GE parts) from outlet of ice maker water control valve to ice maker inlet. Also replaced water supply line to inlet of water control valve with new, GE braided, PEX 1/4" supply line with pre-attached female compression fittings on both ends. I removed the Display Panel and unplugged all the connections from the Panel. I removed the Dispenser Housing Shield along with the Ice Shoot Shield and the Paddle Dispenser. I then removed the Dispenser Switch from the Dispenser Housing Shield, as I suspected that the Dispenser Switch was the problem. I ordered a new Paddle Dispenser as ours had lost the finish from water deposits over time, but also order the Ice Shoot Shield as a piece broke on removal (my fault, I believe). We received...
