Ge Ice Deflector Spring
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR02X11768

The Ice Deflector Spring is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. This spring is a crucial component of the ice dispensing system, specifically in selecting between crushed and whole ice cubes. It is designed to always force the diverter back in a way that the cubes get crushed. Symptoms of a bad Ice Deflector Spring include:

  • The diverter not returning to the crushed ice configuration
  • Unusual sounds during the ice dispensing process
  • The need for manual intervention to get crushed ice

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Not dispensing ice, making loud noise   Dennis V. • Parker , CO • March 24, 2020

When I took it apart I found that the drive cup was cracked, the helix lock plate hole was reamed out and the ice deflector spring was broken. Once I got past that obstacle, it was simple to replace all the parts and it's working like normal again. Very helpful video explaining the repair. Read more
