I have had this oven for 40+ years. It is an enamel oven, something that you can no longer buy. Because I did not wish to buy new, I decided to service it myself and searched for the parts I needed. I needed to replace the oven broil element on my 15 year old GE range/oven unit. The broil element was broken in half during an oven self-cleaning cycle. Due to the age of the oven, I decided to replace both the broil and bake elements. I ordered the elements from Appliance Parts Pro. Ordered new parts and replaced all. Had to slightly modify the wire terminals all four surface elements so that they would fit the ceramic insulators that were shipped with each one. Read more

Unplug range. Open oven door to gain access to the cook top lock-down screws, located under the front edge of the cook top. Tip the cook top up and carefully remove it by pulling forward. Set aside in a safe place. Remove old, burned-out, element by removing the single lock tab, located on one of the three mounting posts, then lift up. Leave the wiring attached. Removed the defective burner labeled the leads as to their location and coil connections. Replaced the connections to the corresponding locations, 1 to 1, 2 to 2 and the bridged terminal as it was. I noticed that the coils in the replacement burner were not wound in the same direction as the original burner and made note of this. The stove was a 40 year old drop in model so we had to turn off the breaker to the oven before getting started. We removed the baking racks then used a small drill bit to remove the old baking element making sure not to allow the wire to slip back into the back of the stove (very important). Installed the new baking element by slipping the wire connector onto the new element. Replaced the screws, restored power, tested the oven and voila it worked. Easy peasy. Read more

I took the old Terminal block out and put the new one back in. it's about 15 minutes job. it was a really simple thing to do. I don't know why it always get the Terminal Block burn in every 3 or 4 months. I have to replace it all the times. I am very disappoint about the Electric Stove. The brand I have, is Hotpoint. I think about changing to Gas Stove instead soon. Read more

Cut off power ,inside I remove the two back screws, remove the two front screws with hangers. Pull element out, clip wires so they don't fall back in holes with clothes pins. worked good. But wire connection to the broiler was to large, had to replace connectors, wire fell in hole, had to pull wall oven out and remove back panel. I then mounted the new element to oven. Replaced connectors ,connected connectors, closed back panel, put oven in place ,connected power lines. Turned power on. Works... Read more

I first tried to purchase the part directly from GE but they were not helpful at all. Remembering that I had purchased a transmission and other parts from appliance parts pros for my old Maytag washer before, I searched their easy-to-use parts catalog and there it was!!!! I asked for confirmation from Customer Service and after 2 says Research confirmed that it was the correct part.
