I checked the drain hose for blocking at the garbage disposal and then at the connection point to the dishwasher. This is a small check valve that connects to the drain pump assembly on a washing machine. It prevents water from flowing back into the tub after it has been pumped out during the drain cycle. First determined drain discharge hose was clear. Turned of power to dishwasher. I did not find it necessary to remove the dishwasher. I simply removed the lower service panel at the floor and was able to easily remove the defective pump, unplug it, replace the small rubber check valve flapper before the pump inlet and reinstall the new pump assembly. This is a water inlet valve with a built-in bimetal thermistor, used in washing machines to control the flow of water into the tub. The integrated thermistor helps regulate water temperature by sensing incoming water conditions. This is an electrically controlled water inlet valve that opens and closes to allow hot and cold water to flow into the washing machine during the fill cycle. It connects to the household water supply hoses at the back of the washer. Replace this valve if the washer is not filling with water, fills slowly, continues to fill when turned off, or leaks from the back of the machine.
Researched, then decided to try everything suggested. Cleaned the hidden filter under the washer, checked the lines and the water inlet valves, opened it up and found a hose rubbed thin because it wasn't clipped correctly during the manufacturing process. Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling. YouTube video was a great help and let me know that I had to lengthen one hose. The video showed me the exact parts I needed to lengthen the hose. Removed cover from Whirlpool washer (~20 years old) and found water to be leaking from hose connection at Break Vac. Obviously the hose had to be replaced but the Break Vac looked corroded and partially plugged, too, possibly inhibiting water flow. While the cabinet was off I noticed the Suspension Spring was rusted off so I ordered 1 of those, too.
