Concrete balance weight mounts to washer outer tub to stabilize drum during spin. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing to restore proper vibration control.
My problem was a broken spider. I followed your excellent video, but have some additional input that should be incorporated in a new video showing the required upgrade procedures and parts required to repair an early model with damaged front tub half using currently available parts. Don't expect everything to go as easy as the video. 1) Used 4lb. brass hammer to drive shaft from bearings. 2) Torqued spider bolts to 20ft lbs. with thread locking compound. 3) attached rubber seal to front tub... This OEM replacement part is a control board for washers. The control board is the main computer that sends signals to the washer to perform its essential functions. If the washer is no longer turning on, spinning, rinsing or draining properly, this could mean that the control board needs to be replaced. Luckily this is a relatively simple repair. To begin, start by shutting off all power to the appliance. Proceed to move the washer away from the wall to gain access to the upper back panel. Remove the upper back panel and locate the old control board. Pull it out of its mounted position and take note of the orientation of the wires attached to the old board. Reinsert the wire harness and individual wire into their correct terminals on the new board. Snap the board back into place and reinstall the upper back panel. This genuine replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand washers.
After unplugging the washer from the electrical outlet, the top of the washer was removed without a problem in order to allow easy access to the Central Control Unit (CCU) at the top of the back end of the washer. A cell phone was used to photograph the wiring layout and connectors plugged into the CCU, and then all connectors and the harness were carefully removed from the CCU without incident. Attempting to remove the old CCU, the plastic retaining clips built into the old CCU housing broke... Read more

Fix a washer that won't drain or makes whining sounds with this pump and motor assembly. Common causes: debris lodged in pump or burned-out motor.
When I removed a bunch of very wet soaking towels at the end of a wash cycle, it was clear that the water was not draining properly. The washer also made a very loud noise during the water drain period. That was suspicious. I ordered the part, opened the washer, removed the old pump and faced with a nasty surprise. You may laugh at this, but there was a toothpick in the old drain pump! most of it was still there, and it seemed like the toothpick was stuck in the pump in such a position that it... Read more

Maytag Bravos Washer, Model #MVWX550XW1 My washer was emitting a loud noise - I describe it as a loud whining noise - while filling with water. The noise seemed to be coming from the fill valve assembly: 1) jiggling the supply hoses changed the inflection of the noise, 2) turning on the faucet in the adjacent laundry tub (thereby reducing the water supply pressure) also diminished the intensity of the whining noise. I ordered and installed this part - No. AP6023337 "Housing". The installation... Read more
