This kit includes a replacement heating element and a high limit thermostat for an electric dryer. PLEASE UNPLUG DRYER FIRST. This was my first attempt at trying to fix my dryer (Maytag SDE515DAYW). Order the element kit Part Number AP4046564. The installation was easier than I thought. Just removed the two front panels and I was able to reach the back of the dryer, under the drum (this is where the heat element was located), disconnected the wires (took pictures first) and removed the two screws that held the heat element. This is the resistive coil heating element that generates heat inside the dryer drum to dry clothes. It is rated at 208 volts, which is commonly found in apartment or commercial installations rather than the standard 240-volt residential supply. Replace this element if the dryer runs but produces no heat, takes excessively long to dry clothes, or if the coil is visibly broken or damaged.
I took the front of the dryer off and after a few tests for continuity, I discovered the heating element had completely broken apart. I ordered the element to restring it into the housing. It was easy to do and took about 30 minutes to do. Read more

Turned the power off. Lifted the oven door up and off.to make access easier and to clean an replace gasket.Then unscrewed the element brackets. Cleaned oven.
