First I verified there was good water volume getting to the door, by uncoupling the hose at the door bottom (press in coupler ring) and activating the dispenser, there was not. (have a cup ready) Since the water filter is inline, and I had another I subbed it. Still no change. Here I made an error. Used U-Tube diagnostic clips to diagnose that most likely problem was a worn Evaporator Fan Motor which is located in the freezer back wall, located in the top third of the unit. I removed 6 hex head screws from the freezer's interior back panel that covers the evaporator coils. The cover is located in the lower 2/3s of the back wall. Removed all shelving. So this is a poor design in the first case. Not having a center support in the back almost guarantees a failure there eventually. I kludged together a support in my original more than a year ago, but finally the part broke too bad to limp along with anymore. This is the part I needed. Tl;dr: Watch the repair video FIRST. This will take you less than 15m if you do watch the video. You need to remove a door panel, you can't directly replace the icemaker. Even without doing that, it took me less than 30 minutes. 4 screws, a panel removal, a couple of computer-style power plugs, and you'll have ice again no problem. Stupid easy. I ordered a replacement handle and screws. The process was very easy with the help of one of your "pros" who found all the parts needed and took my order. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it. Removing the old handle and installing the replacement was very easy. It looks great, in fact the replacement is metal, whereas the original was plastic, so it looks better than it ever did! 1. Googled "appliance replacement parts" - found two sites to consider 2. Researched parts needed via a exploded diagram - can't fix it if you can't name it. 3. AppliancePartsPros.com had the easiest diagram and after checking, the lowest price. 4. Parts showed up within a couple of days - an in-transit note was helpful. 5. The part screws in but watch out you don't break the tiny black pin holding the part on in addition to the screw. Needed JB Weld to fix that. Read more
