Well, I got online and found several YouTube videos on how to check what was happening. I have a multimeter and tools. I first replaced the external water filter just to make sure it wasn't that, and it needed it. That wasn't the problem. I then removed the water inlet valve which was really easy. Initially I noticed the crusher drum was cracked and broken so I replaced the drum the retaining nut on the end of the auger and the circlip and washer. it worked fine for a time and then the drum began free wheeling. upon further inspection I discovered the retain nubs on the auger had worn down allowing the blade to slip down the auger body. so I replaced the auger, drum, drive blade, and drive cam. After spending some time the previous weekend unloading the freezer and climbing in to see where the problem was I determined that the motor on the ice maker was faulty. My frig is a year and a half old, Frigidaire with french doors and freezer drawer. It has an upper ice maker for the door in the frig and a bottom ice maker in the freezer drawer. After noticing the flood, I shut off the water supply to the frig and cleaned up the mess. Ordered new ice maker ,,, losen 2,, 1/4" screws on ice maker mountingbracket,, you dont have to remove screws just losen ,,disconnect wiring harness from back of old ice maker.. Take new ice maker connect wiring harness ,,mount ice maker back on 2 screws then tighten . Read more

My problem started with a rusting condition in the ice bin that spiraled out of hand. I took apart the ice bin and all the hardware thinking I could clean it with the suggested baking powder. Plastic parts cleaned up like new, metal parts were pitted. I wire brushed and sanded the parts put it all back together and gave it a try.
