Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it back in, appears to return to normal function. Return to kitchen half hour 45 minutes later it's short cycling again. My husband expected we needed a new dishwasher but I insisted on trying to fix it first. You need a Torx screwdriver so make sure you have a set. Replaced the oven controller. This needed the only removal of six hex screws securing the back guard rear shield, two-wire plugs on the control unit, and four Phillips screws. Gotta love the inter-webs and youtube.com I did a couple of searches and some troubleshooting. Everything pointed to the damper assembly and thermo so I ordered them as well as the new versions of the flimsy plastic drawer shelves, while I was working out of state during COVID. After following troubleshooting steps on the website verified the heating element assembly needed replacing. Since I had to breakdown the entire unit to get to it took the time to clean lint, dust and other buildup from inside and replaced other fuses also. Found the end of the right-side Door Spring that connects to the Door Cable broke off and the plastic end of the Door Cable that connects to the Door Spring was also broken off.
