I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). Suspected a clogged condensation drain line. Took out all the shelves and drawers, condensation unit is toward the bottom of the frdige on inside, I could see that there was ice build up. I unplugged fridge, placed fan in firdge to speed up the thawing of the built up ice. After ice melted enough, I could get face panels and foam off to see that icing caused a backup in drain line, which led to water sitting in trough pan, rusting the trough pan. This story is somewhat unique, on Friday 5/23/14 I was cleaning the frig, when I broke the glass shelf. I went online to purchase a new glass shelf. Parts Pro said they would process my order if confirmed by 4:00 pm. and would ship it same day. I placed the order, and to my amasement the new shelf arrived 22 hours later, yes I said 22 hours. my hat is off to the Parts Pro. Ordered replacement seals for both freezer and refrigerator sides. Followed directions that I had found on YouTube. The installation in a nut shell is warm the seals in a bathtub with very hot water for at least 2-3hrs then place the seals. Then warm the seals with a hair dryer as needed. After getting the seals out of the hot bath the installation took all of 20-25 minutes for both seals. Read more

I first watched U-Tube tutorials for an hour that addressed the defect and demonstrated the typical repair formats. There could be 4 separate components that required careful testing to determine which part had failed. I called GE service and they sent a technician to inspect my refrigerator and diagnose the problem and identify the defective component which was the evaporator fan motor. We isolated a burning smell in our kitchen to our refrigerator, GE Profile PSS23MGTCCC which we purchased in November of 2006. First I ordered a new ice door seal, spring, and crank, figuring the condensation in freezer and door was caused by ice door not sealing. Turns out the solenoid for the ice door was completely rusted and was the primary cause, if it had been replaced early, it would have saved the dispenser board. What then happened was the moisture in the freezer door damaged the control board rendering dispenser controls inoperative as well as the heater around the dispenser. Replaced the stripper and fill cup - turns out that the fill cup came with the locking tab broken off. The stripper had a missing paddle, and ice cubes would jam and shut down the ice maker periodically. Let the ice maker warm up after you remove it so the plastic is not so brittle. You have to pry the old stripper out. Make sure the new one locks all across the front. My refrigerator has the ice maker mount toe the side instead of from the hangers in back. Replaced upper and lower thimble's, lever arm, cam closure. Door stop was not the problem, but ordered it and replaced it too. The door of course has to come off, remove the top hinge, and lift it away. Lubricated moving parts with silicone spray. Be sure and put the door back in the open position, so the lever arm and cam closure can properly interact, then close the door. Remove the plastic grate at the bottom to get at the lever arm.
