When trouble shooting the problem I found that the light switch housing outer lip was broken allowing the switch to push through mounting surface behind the oven door. This is a slide in range so, I proceeded to pull the range away from the counter where I could unplug the power cord. Turned out the little switches on the knob shaft had corroded and were staying on. There was constant continuity showing with an ohm meter.
