This lid switch is the washer's safety interlock. It detects when the lid is closed so the machine can agitate and spin, and cuts power when the lid is opened to stop operation and enhance user safety.
Was set to pull the trigger on a new washer since this one was 10+ years old. Broke a $25 lid switch fumbling to get the washer open before I found the appliancepros video library.
