After years of replacing the female electric latch switch that controlled the operation of the machine, I discovered that the window/door's handle's connection to its male latching hook had failed. Called a Maytag repair man, said "the bumpers are no longer available". These little things are actually critical to operation, because the lid safety switch needs to be pressed back far enough to sense that the lid is closed, and without the bumpers, this is a little iffy. After reading up on the error codes, I found that my constant beeping was telling me that the door was not well latched. My machine is 12 years old and has seen heavy use, including a broken door handle that has been hanging on with copious amounts of duct tape for a while. I replaced the bent door hinge, worn door latch, and the outer handle. The entire repair required ten minutes and a Phillips head screwdriver. Now it works perfectly with NO more beeping!!
