Whirlpool Control Board

The 20 year old unit still serves us well, looks good and has been kept in good repair. The condenser fan had stopped so I removed, cleaned and oiled that motor. The decision was made to make an upgrade to the evaporator motor and control units so that the appliance could reasonably be expected to have extended service life. I initially purchased a door switch, thinking that it would solve the problem. I replaced the switch by removing the top 6 star screws, removing the component cover and removing one of the door switches (using a 3/16 socket) with the new one that I bought but I still had the problem. Looking at the schematic, the next part that needed to be changed is the electronic control board, which I purchased. Replaced the defrost timer. It was not located where the parts explode suggested in the thermostat control box which is located in the upper right corner of the liner. It was in fact outside the freezer compartment on the back lower left support (when looking at the back of the freezer). It is secured with 2 sheet metal screws with a 1/4 hex head. 1. Turn off the electricity to the dishwasher 2. Unscrew all of the screws on the inside of the dishwasher door. 3. Take off the door and put it aside 4. Loosen the panel that contains the control board, control panel and the door lock mechanism 5. Using a screw driver, push in the small moveable tab in the center of the plastic clip that is holding the control board to the plastic panel. 6.
