Appeared to be two problems: the latch was worn and one of the pins that slid in a guide on the actuator located in the inner panel had broke off. Detergent lid spring and pin appeared to be OK but decided to replace since I was aready working on it. I ordered all the inner panel mechanism from the control arm to the latch actuator on the inner panel. The repair was successful as the detergent dispenser now opens during its cycle. Read more

Watched the video a few times for door boot seal replacement. It was a lot of help! The spring is the hardest to replace and I did enlist the help of my wife. Everything went back on great. If you have to replace the front panel (with the buttons) be mindful that the buttons are spring loaded and will come out. I did not lose any and it went back together just fine. Our 10-year-old LG WM2487HWMA front load washer had gradually developed multiple problems. I wasn't sure if it was the door being warped, the spring return being worn, or the rotary damper failing, so I ordered all to update the door mechanism. I also ordered a new micro switch since one of the switches had started to require more and more pressure to actuate. Figured I'd fix it at the same time. First remove the back from the washing machine. Top of the machine came off simple. To replace springs, I took a crow bar but it on the right side underneath where one of the springs should be. Lift the tumbler up remove and replace the spring. Did the same thing to the other side. On the tumbling unit there are spaces for three shock absorbers. Mine only had one shock in the middle. This repair could have killed or maimed me -- really! Left door spring snapped. Online search, APP was only source with both door spring and linkage. Discovered link for APP repair-instruction video (not very well marked on parts page). This well-done video really helped build my confidence. Removed LP Orifice and LP Gas limiter. Orifice was easy, however the gas limiter was the tricky one because I had no instructions to what went where. I could not find anything online as to how to convert from LP to Natural Gas, but you could find several things as to how to convert from Natural to LP. The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute.
