Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You When the timer was actuated the machine would only hum   Ernest Q. • Geneva , FL • December 11, 2015

Not knowing for sure that the problem was the capacitor, I was reluctant to purchase and replace the part. I went AppliancePartPros.com web site and clicked on the part replacement video. The repair video was short and well illustrated. Before the repair began, the service rep says, " the reason you would replace the capacitor is that after turning the timer on, the machine would just hum." The instruction video was the reason that I purchased the part at AppliancePartPros.com The part was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave would power on, but no heat.   Mike P. • Monument , CO • April 29, 2022

I took the advice of another buyer and replaced the magnetron, capacitor, and diode from my microwave (make sure you discharge the capacitor). It was not a problem at all to do, I did find an excellent video on YouTube on how to test all of these components and almost anything else in a microwave. It’s called Microwave Oven Troubleshooting in Minutes- Step by Step by electronicsNmore. It was the best thing I watched. Turns out my magnetron was the only thing that was bad and it’s the most... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Hotpoint vlsr1090g5ww wouldn't agitate or spin.   Chuck G. • Douglas , MI • October 03, 2022

Washer would run through the cycle, but not agitate. I had to wait for it to pump down the water level to check spin, which also was not working. The motor would buzz when it should run, but not rotate, hard to hear for spin because the pump was running. Found I could start it by hand very easily by giving the pulley a spin, so I figured start switch, but there didn't appear to be one. I found what looked like a start capacitor zip tied to the chassis midway up the front, so my second guess was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kenmore washer melting plastic smell   Keith M. • Bartlett , TN • April 22, 2014

My Mom's Kenmore had a burnt plastic smell after a thunderstorm. Found motor capacitor had melted through, dumping liquid platic "spaghetti" onto the insulation blanket under the washer. All other compents looked fine. Told her not to use it until I replaced capacitor. The washer is 4 yrs old but the new capacitor revision was 3 letters higher, so they've made some design changes. Externally it looks the same. There is a large number on the capacitor, but the part is ordered by the much... Read more

Wife let me know the microwave was making grinding noise while I was in garage fixing her car starter, never a dull moment. Further questioning she also said it wan't heating the food. Due to being an odd sized built in $$ unit I had to have repaired. I was getting quotes in the $4-500 range for just the magnetron. I was actually getting an error code for the shifter and speed sensor. I ordered a shifter, which included the speed sensor, and replaced that part but the washer still didn't work. After doing some more research online, someone mentioned that the capacitor may be bad. I found your site which was most helpful. I saw on your forum, that others had replaced a motor & capacitor with + results. I was willing to spend what I thought was a reasonable amount & your guarantee was the clincher. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave oven was not heating   Scott S. • Charlotte , NC • June 20, 2017

I ordered the capacitor, diode, and magnetron in hopes that I would be able to complete the repair using the less expensive parts. I first removed the oven from the wall and then I removed the metal housing to access the internal parts. I discharged the capacitor using a pair of insulated needle nose pliers. Capacitor replacement parts are essential for keeping your home appliances running smoothly. Think of a capacitor like the heart of your appliance's motor, providing that initial jolt of energy needed to get things going. Whether it's your trusty washing machine, refrigerator, or lawn mower, a well-functioning capacitor ensures everything is operating at its best.

Without a good capacitor, your appliance would struggle to start and might not function at all. It's these little parts that make a big difference in overall performance and longevity. For instance, a washer's motor capacitor stores and releases energy to get the motor started and keep it running efficiently during wash cycles. OEM replacement capacitors are especially important, as they ensure compatibility and quality, fitting seamlessly into your appliance's existing system without any hiccups.

High-quality capacitors are available to ensure that your appliance maintains its peak performance and reliability. So, next time you're prepping for a repair, remember: having the right capacitor on hand can make all the difference in keeping your appliance in top shape.
