I ordered a complete ice maker from appliance parts after watching a few YouTube videos I was sure that I could replace the icemaker. Upon the arrival of the icemaker I removed two screws slid the icemaker out disconnected the wiring harness and replace the icemaker in less than five minutes. Replaced the entire ice making unit. It was a very simple project. The original ice maker is held in place by two screws at the front and some tabs in the back. Removing the screws allowed the unit to come free from the tabs and drop down. We simply released the wiring clip, removed the broken unit and reversed the process. Found bad auger motor drive shaft, it was rounded on the end that goes into motor. While I was there I replaced the seal, auger (old one rusty) and coupler. The new auger is stainless steel (I believe and slightly longer) and should not corrode like old white one. If changing auger, make sure you put the assembly back together correctly (take a few pics of the old one and lay it out as taken apart). As always, parts arrived quickly. Read more
