This carburetor assembly is a genuine MTD replacement part for the small engine of a log splitter. The engine of a log splitter is attached to a hydraulic pump. The purpose of a carburetor assembly is to combine the air and fuel that the engine takes in through a series of valves and then to transform that mixture into a flammable solution that can ignite within the engine. A damaged carburetor will inhibit the engine from maintaining its power after initially starting. If an engine has a full tank of oil and is still struggling to power up, it is likely that the carburetor assembly is damaged. In order to verify that it is the carburetor that is preventing the engine from continuing to operate effectively, one can drop a spoonful of fuel directly into the carburetor and assess how the engine starts upon using the pull start. If the fuel leaks out of the carburetor upon attempting to start the engine, the carburetor assembly is almost certainly compromised.
