I bought a new one and installed it. I had to buy a set of small Torx drivers to remove screws holding front panel. Wish I'd known to have very small hex wrench to remove 6 screws holding soap dispenser. It was also quite a juggling act to hold the front panel on the dishwasher door steady and put the screws back in. However, the new dispenser works perfectly!

I ordered a new detergent dispenser and control assembly, watched a few videos on you tube and dived in. The repairs were pretty simple once I got started and while I was doing this I went the extra step and cleaned out the drain. I would suggest doing this annually. Pretty simple to do and only 5 screws to get to the drain and the grinder. I found plastic and several other things that would not allow the dishwasher to drain properly and probably part of the problem of dishes not getting...

Ordered a new detergent dispenser that arrived within two days. Removed screws on the inside of door that removes the front door panel. The detergent dispenser is held on by a bracket with six screws. There is one plugin that needs to be disconnected.
Everything is reinstalled as before. It work as before.

Unplugged power cord 30 secs
Loosened metal bracket on top and bottom with screwdriver 5 min
Pushed dispenser in and removed from dishwasher 5 min
Positioned new unit in space and snapped into place 1 min
Plugged electrics back in 1 min
Screwed back on 3 min
Roughly 20 min. I am nontechnical and rarely do repairs.
