Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer motor hums but won't turn over   Joel B. • Baytown , TX • December 17, 2016

I could hear the dryer motor hum, but it would not run. There was nothing obstructing the motor from turning freely so I assumed I needed a new motor. I went ahead and ordered a new pulley switch to change out while I was in there just in case. The parts arrived faster than expected. I changed the switch first and then checked the old motor which surprisingly fired right up. Now I have to decide whether to return the new motor or keep it as a spare. Read more

Install notes
  • Disconnect power before servicing; allow moving parts to stop
  • Access is typically from the rear; remove the rotor to expose the stator
  • Handle the rotor's strong magnets carefully and keep metal objects clear

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Freezer was cold but refrigerator was warm   Susandelong D. • Durham , ME • October 14, 2016

The evaporator fan had stopped working and caused the entire area around it to ice up. No air flow was getting from the freezer to the fridge. Kenmore Rear Evaporator Motor Grommet
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 5040JA2004A

The Rear Evaporator Motor Grommet is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It's designed to secure and cushion the evaporator motor, ensuring it remains in place and operates quietly. This grommet plays a crucial role in minimizing vibrations and noise from the motor, which can otherwise lead to a disruptive refrigerator operation.

Causes of a bad Rear Evaporator Motor Grommet can result from deterioration due to cooling and thawing cycles in the refrigerator. Physical damage during cleaning or servicing may cause a loose motor fit.

Symptoms of a malfunctioning Rear Evaporator Motor Grommet include:

  • Unusual noises or vibrations from the back of the refrigerator.
  • The evaporator motor shifting out of place, which can affect cooling efficiency.
  • Increased wear on the evaporator motor due to lack of proper cushioning and support.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Kenmore models.
