I believe we had two problems. Our gasket was ripped in several places and our drain pan line was clogged. Therefore the water was frozen and backing up into the freezer. The rubber seal/gasket was torn on our KitchenAid refrigerator right side door. I purchased the replacement and followed the directions/recommendations of how to prepare the new gasket for installation. When it's removed from the shipping box, it does have wrinkles and preparing it is a must. I set it out on our tile floor and then used a heat gun (low setting) to warm it up and massage it. I ran a diagnostics check on the washing machine and came up with the error code E47 -Board thinks the door PTC circuit is open in spin. The washer thought the door was open and would not finish the spin. I was left with a washer full of very wet clothes. This repair was SO extremely easy. This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart. Read more

• Ice maker dispenses too much ice

Replaced ice maker. Some confusion as to which part # it was as the model number cross reference shows the one I purchased was not for my model refrigerator when it actually was. Secondly, a few comments from others said the switch out was simple. Only 3 screws holding in the ice maker although one of the three was in a tight spot . That is technically true. Ordered left and right side supports and they arrived in two days! It took me longer to get stuff out of the way in the fridge so I could take the shelf out than it did to actually swap out the side supports. Parts fit perfectly and quick easy repair. Read more
