Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Filter was hard to remove to clean   Claytor W. • Bedford , VA • November 09, 2015

When we first removed the drain filter from the washer, we noticed the O-ring had a slight defect which made removal hard and reinstallation almost a nightmare. Finally we ordered another filter when we ordered a water valve/thermistor for the mother-in-law's washer. Filter installed a lot easier than the original one. Should have ordered one way sooner! Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The water pump in my compact whirlpool washer was making an incredible racket and wouldn't drain   Charles H. • Jacksonville , FL • June 26, 2015

Very simple repair really. Unplugged the washer, moved the washer in order to have access to the back panel. Remove 13 #20 torx screws holding the back panel on ; then removed back panel. Open the filter access on the front bottom of the washer to drain any remaining water, be sure to have a towel ready, as if the pump is bad, there's bound to be quite a bit. Looking at the washer from the back, the bottom left contained the pump. Remkve the two electric connectors and move out of the way.... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The washing machine was full of water and it wouldn't drain or spin out it started but then quickly stopped   Daren E. • Layton , UT • April 15, 2016

Upon opening the front cover of my GE washing machine, I found the water pump/brake was not spinning as it should when the drain/spin cycle was starting. I suspected that the pump/brake was the cause of the problem. I tried to turn the flywheel of the pump by hand and found it tight and somewhat difficult to turn. To temporarily fix the problem, I added a couple drops of motor oil to the front shaft and bearing to see if it would loosen up a little bit. Doing that and turning the flywheel by... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Pump bracket broke   Marty M. • Big Bear City , CA • December 22, 2015

After ordering two pump kits and thinking I had still had the wrong pump I read how other customers fixed the problem. Forget about the pump going back in the same location. It mounts to the bottom of the frame not to the bottom of the tub as it came from the manufacturer. In my case there were mounting holes already there to accept the new pump bracket. The new hoses will reach the bottom of the tub and outlet. Fast and easy repair once I sorted through the changes. I hope other Samsung... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You "nd" code, Wasn't draining Grinding noise.   Will J. • Kodiak , AK • February 10, 2024

The machine was displaying an "nd" code, wasn't draining, and would make a grinding noise when the pump ran. After about 30 seconds of the grinding noise, the pump would stop, and the washer would pause the load. Diagnosis was fairly easy: I drained the water out manually at the filter housing. (If you have a drain in the floor of the laundry room, and the washer is up-slope from the drain, just drain it onto the floor and into the drain.)
