Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fan was making a weird noise   Raymond A. • Brookville , OH • February 19, 2016

First I did a search for my model stove, I read the discriptions of what it was doing and came to the conclusion it was the fan motor. I then called an appliance dealer in my local area to find out that the fan motor cost all most double what I could get it online. I called to see how much it would cost to have a repair man come out and fix it, which would have cost 260 dollars. So in one of the suggested comments that someone previously left it stated that it could be done in about 20... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Burner in glass top range control only has off or full on modes   Edward A. • Brookfield , WI • August 11, 2015

Based on internet search and data found on APPLIANCE PARTS PRO, I deduced that the "infinite control " module was most likely bad. Replaced it and all is good. Toughest part was remembering how to disengage cooktop from down draft blower and then pulling the cook top up in within it's opening. Once pulled up, I put short 2x4's across the opening corners to support the cooktop safely while I worked on it. Next issue was figuring out exactly which screws held the glass top in place. As... Potentiometer
Genuine Bosch part
By: Bosch
Part Number: 00422748

The Potentiometer is an OEM replacement part for Bosch gas range or cooktops. It functions as a three-terminal resistor that adjusts the flow of electric current, which in turn, controls the ignition and temperature of the cooktop. This component is essential for the precise operation and control of the gas burners, ensuring they light up and maintain the desired flame intensity.

Causes of a malfunctioning Potentiometer can be attributed to wear and tear, electrical issues, or damage due to spills and cleaning products. A compromised potentiometer affects the flow of electric current, leading to issues with the ignition and temperature control of the gas burners.

Symptoms of a bad Potentiometer include:

  • The cooktop not lighting or staying lit
  • The ignitor continuously clicking without igniting the burner
  • Inability to adjust the flame intensity or temperature accurately

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You One burner on my thermador cooktop (pcs484ccus) would not light   Kinn K. • Haslet , TX • June 08, 2015

After watching a youtube video, I disassembled the front cover on the cooktop (be sure to turn off the power supply). I then switched the potentiometers on two burners. The burner that was not working now worked and the burner that did work did not. Easy to find the culprit....ordered a new potentiometer from here and though I only got regular shipping, it was actually delivered the NEXT DAY! 5 minutes, put in the new part, and all burners work. Easy fix. Both elements replaced while I was at it, so all new. Figured if one went the other was going to follow. CIRCUIT BREAKER OFF. Removed the back metal panel with my nut driver for the hex head screws. Note where the panel may slip under tabs for support. Remove slip on electrical connections on upper and lower elements. GE Microwave/Convection Oven. Removed case (carefully). Tested in-line power cord fuse with multi-meter. Fuse was good. Noticed a scorch mark on a wire connected to the oven cavity thermal fuse. The fuse appeared to have been overheated from too much movement in it's mount. Removed part from unit and used number on the part to order a new one. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Bottom support to door handle broke.   David B. • Pottstown , PA • September 06, 2017

So, you would think that Bosch would make the door handle a TAD more accessible for a quick replacement and repair. You have to first remove the plastic lining on the back of the door, then the black metal surround that holds the inner glass to be able to get to the two screws that hold the door handle supports. It takes some patience as most of these two peices and "snap" in and you just have to carefully see how the two components are held in to remove them without breaking them. So.... 1 -... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge gas stove top model # zgu385l sm stainless steel one burner would not lite   Edward L. • Fort Myers , FL • November 21, 2015

While trying to fix the problem I broke the knob. Appliance Parts Pros.com had the part delivered in 2 days! After looking at the video I decided there was a poor ground at burner #1. Removal of burner confirmed my suspicion. Years of use “spills” has insulated the burner from a good ground, thus preventing a good spark. Removal of black residue cleared the problem. I am now in the process of cleaning the remaining 4 burners just to be sure. Read more
