The fan has a very thin wire in it's coil, and when that wire breaks, you need a new fan. In a previous repair, i noticed that an ice build-up had dislodged the wiring on my fan and severed the coil winding. I was able to undo the winding a couple of turns and get it working again. But more recently, the fan stopped and there was no repairing it. So i ordered a new fan from AppliancePartsPros.com and it got here in very good time. Removed the back cover to access the fan area. Clean the area with brush and vac first. Unplugged the Refrigerator. Used a socket set with 1/4" socket. Had an extended and a standard socket. Removed the condensate plastic drain from the bottom of the refrigerator to have more access to the fan. Unplugged the fan motor. Removed the two screws holding the fan in place. I bought the listed condenser fan motor for my Maytag refrigerator. Access to the condenser fan is by removing sheet metal screws of bottom panel with 1/4 in. nut driver. Condenser fan is on left side of rear access area. Remove electrical connector by pressing-in connector release tab with thumb fingernail and pulling on connector. The repair went well. Never made this type of repair before. Took me around 90 minutes to complete. The worst part was winging it on how to disassemble the bottom drawers. On my Kenmore Elite, it has three freezer compartment sliding trays. The other difficult part for me was removing the clipped in part on the back of the freezer panel. I received my new part in about 3-4 days. Part was exact match for my existing motor. After watching the installation video on this website I was able to garner the rudimentary directions to replace the motor. The video did not match the exact fridge I had. My fridge did not have the access panel on the interior of the freezer. I had to remove the two screws at the water ice dispenser tray on the outside and slide that unit off the front. Ordered the new fan (blower) from AppliancePartsPros. It arrived 3 days later. Pulled the wall oven out of the wall, removed the sheet metal back and removed the noisy fan. Installed the new fan, reinstalled the sheet metal back, shoved it back into it's place, turned the power back on and viola!, much quieter. Read more

After checking the suggested fixes and parts on Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered the defrost thermostat and evap motor for my refrigerator, a Kitchen Aid KSSC42QTS00. Installation was very easy, simply emptying the freezer and removing the access panel in the back bottom half. Very easy to replace. Take off cover to auger compartment. Unplug power connector from auger motor. Remove four screws holding auger motor to refrig. Put new auger motor in place, insert screws, insert power connector, replace cover. Use ice maker! Read more

Checked and found the evaporator frozen causing the fan to stop working. Took the interior panels off and applied a blow dryer to the ice, once the ice melted I cut the tabs on the grommet holding the fan since everything is thin plastic and replaced the grommet and fan. Placed everything back and found no further issues. Tools I used were a small flat head screwdriver to pry the panels off and a 1/4 socket to remove the center drawer (4), water filter cover (2), and the ice maker (2). Not too... Read more

Replaced the motor with a direct replacement part. The wiring was not the same because the switch on the motor was different. The instructions that came with the motor were enough for me to figure out what to do. Read more

Originally thought it was the evap fan motor, possibly the control board. Turns out it was the latter but only way to know for sure was to replace fan first. Shipping was fast and the parts were good. Read more
