Had to take the back cover off. It was very tight to remove the fan that sat in the drip pan but did get it off, was able to apply the same level of cursing and got the new pan installed, installing the drain tube was a breeze. Found the parts price very reasonable. Hoping the Whirlpool redesigned the pan so I won't have to do it ever again. I was surprised at how bad the quality of their original part was. The site came up on a Google search suggesting a new air diffuser which was indeed the problem. I got a thermistor too just in case but probably want needed. • Won't start

Through 15 years of vibration, the Cycling Thermostat evidently had degraded to the point where one electrical connection or more came loose and caused a short. There is also a possibility that the Bakelite section of the Dryer Cycling Thermostat body separated from the metal base, simultaneously exposing all four connections to a short. I could not find specific online instructions for this job. Here are some tips. 1. Unplug the washer. 2. Unscrew the dial on the broken timer. 3. Gently pry up the thin plastic place-indicator plate (the thing with the arrow under the dial) with two flathead screwdrivers. 4. Unscrew the two hex screws holding the old timer in place. 5. Bot both sets of roller bearings, lower ones on the appliance and the set on the trash can that rolls out. I just followed the instructions that were in the roller bearing package and only needed the tools that are recommended. Was a little tricky with the nuts, really need a person with "small" fingers to reassemble the nuts back on the lower set of bearing that are on the appliance. All in All, went well and works. After watching installation videos on each felt I could pull it off and ordered and received replacement water reservoir and water dispenser tube assembly.
