The Bake Element is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens, engineered to provide consistent and even heating for baking. This element is located at the bottom of the oven cavity and is essential for achieving the desired temperatures for cooking and baking. When electricity flows through the element, it heats up and glows red, radiating heat throughout the oven to cook food evenly. This component is crucial for the oven's functionality, affecting everything from baking pastries to roasting meats.
The primary cause of bake element failure is often wear and tear from regular use. Over time, the element can burn out or become damaged, which impacts its ability to heat properly. In some cases, spills and food residues can also contribute to its deterioration, affecting performance and potentially causing short circuits.
Symptoms of a failing Bake Element include:
- The oven not heating up properly or taking longer than usual to reach the set temperature
- Lack of visible red glow from the element when the oven is turned on, indicating it's not heating
- Uneven or insufficient cooking results, with food being undercooked or overly browned on one side
- Physical damage to the element, such as blistering, cracks, or breaks
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.
