Ordered Impeller and Shaft Seal Kit which came overnight. Easy to put in after watching the video. While installing I found that Inlet Sump was ripped and ordered the part which came overnight. Trickier to install but thought it went well. Even though Shaft Seal probably was not the problem it did need replacing. While this is a Whirlpool dishwasher, I have the Kenmore Elite version of it. I believe them to be identical for parts. A little background: The first symptom I had of problems was plastic bits from the ball bearing retainer strips in the slides falling out. Then ball bearings falling out. A common problem with this dishwasher. When disassembling the upper basket, some of the gray plastic pieces were very brittle and easily snapped off. Replaced the timer and drain solenoid (timer had stuck in "solinoid active" position long enough to burn up the solenoid). Complete the project in two stages on two separate days: 1) replaced solenoid, which took about 30 minutes, 2) replaced timer. Accessing both was straight forward on this simple design dishwasher. Removed the kick panel to access the solenoid. Removed 3 screws and a circlip to remove the old solenoid. Reversed the process to complete this part of the repair. The... Read more

Removed water out of basin, down to the last inch.. Watched water rise slowly, and felt temperature, warm. This told me it was supply water. Ordered replacement part, two days just as mentioned, Removed as per video. Also choose to replace the waste line check valve, to affordable not too. My husband expected we needed a new dishwasher but I insisted on trying to fix it first. You need a Torx screwdriver so make sure you have a set. A little difficult to get cover back on and lined up by myself, but I managed and this was my first attempt at major appliance repair. I replaced the entire console and the dispenser. Still working after 3 loads so my husband may have to eventually admit that I fixed it. Read more

• Will not fill with water

Cycle would complete but dishes weren't clean (not even really wet) and soap wasn't dissolving. Could hear fill at start but maybe not spraying or filling again in cycle. Thought it was the control board, but actually this was not the error. Replaced the control board and same problem arose, only new control board version actually stopped cycle with message that dishwasher couldn't fill. Checked out You tube video. Easy tune up. One gasket was damaged and I did not notice that the brush holders has no brushes. I believe a quick call to Appliance parts pros will fix this, besides I need a few more parts. I expect to get another 20+ years from this KitchenAide mixer, once repairs are competed. The symptom was suds and water on the floor at the left front of the dishwasher within the first five minutes of operation. Examination of the seal inside the door showed it was warped and pushed up into the door out of place. Once disassembled we found a tear in the seal, severe warping, and the material was sticky and slimy rather than flexible. I found a video of the disassembly that was very helpful. All parts arrived in one box - I purchased the tub gasket, lower door gasket and lower door seal. My existing parts were visibly pretty worn out, dishwasher is 12 years old (maybe should have just bought anew one?). Tub gasket was pretty easy, it took me a while to make sure it was even all the way around, after attest run and the subsequent drying heat it fits nicely. After reading through a few forums, I narrowed the problem down to one of 3 issues, the door latch, the switch assembly (control panel), or main control board. I rolled the dice on the switch assembly first. The main reason I did this was my belief the door latch was okay and because the main control board is more expensive. Found the end of the right-side Door Spring that connects to the Door Cable broke off and the plastic end of the Door Cable that connects to the Door Spring was also broken off. Ordered a replacement Door Spring 154579101 and Door Cable 154578801 from AppliancePartsPros.com When the parts arrived a few days later, I watched the video on the AppliancePartsPros.
