Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". Took cover completely off and tried putting back, could not match up left screw with available screw hole. Tried many different configurations and sequences to make this happen. watched a video on changing the front panel, the door in it had four screws, mine 2, no help there. Searched on the hyperextending issue, found an article about dogs and kids [had both here] climbing on the door and to check the springs and linkages. We knew at least one door hinge cable assembly or hinge spring was broken (the door started falling down rapidly and became heavy to close) so we ordered two of each since we had read to go ahead and replace the damaged items on both sides. While we were waiting on the order, the other side must have broken-the door became incredibly heavy and instead of falling open, started crashing down unless it was carefully lowered. Replaced with new kickplate panel. Didn't exactly match our unit but was the right length & lined up correctly enough to allow me to zip tie it to the frame properly. Read more

The replacement arm arrived promptly. Removing the old spray arm hub was very difficult by hand, plumbers wrench, or adjustable wrench. However, by inserting a screwdriver trough the two opposite holes where the tabs had broken off, it is relatively easy to unscrew the old hub. Read more

Web site helped me diagnose problem as water inlet valve not fully shutting off. Repairman quoted me 200.00 to fix, so I decided to gamble the price of the item and repair myself. Web site offered easy to follow, detailed video instructions, had the part replaced and back to working like new in less than 30 minutes. Read more

We scoured the web and there are few references to this so I want to add it in case it helps. Replacing hinges solved the popping opening issue. We could not solve our dishwasher door issue after a number of other tries: Latch, Catch, Ropes that attach to the springs that pull the door closed. I tend to believe the solve could be different b/c all these things work together. But for us, we were skeptical that the hinge swap would work and we were very pleasantly surprised. Read more

Discovered that the common cause of the problem was the latch in the door. Found a video online that showed the exact procedure for my model dishwasher. Ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros on a Thursday afternoon and it was in my hands by noon on Friday. Carefully took the door apart, compared parts, reassembled, and the joy on my wife's face was priceless when the dishwasher started up without doing anything special. Appeared to be two problems: the latch was worn and one of the pins that slid in a guide on the actuator located in the inner panel had broke off. Detergent lid spring and pin appeared to be OK but decided to replace since I was aready working on it. I ordered all the inner panel mechanism from the control arm to the latch actuator on the inner panel. The repair was successful as the detergent dispenser now opens during its cycle. Read more

Replaced sump and related pieces. Also replaced door baffles that were getting bad. The hardest part of job was removing the dishwasher from the its spot in cabinets. The info on site made replacing parts easy. Read more

I ordered a new arm kit from AP Pro. I watched the video..easy repair. The arm spin jets were plugged just like the video said. The old washer was also worn. The new arm (genuine GE) had redesigned spin jets, they added two more. I ordered on a weekend, the order was filled on Monday and it was at my door at noon on Tuesday! I didn't do any special shipping. Excellent video, shockingly fast delivery. Amazon Prime (I am a member) would be jealous, and AP Pro has excellent videos. Read more
