Fix a dishwasher that won't start or beeps repeatedly with this door latch assembly. Solves doors that won't stay closed or cycles that won't stop.
I found the door switch was not making contact when the door closed. I adjusted it, but then it would not open so the dishwasher would run when the door wasn't closed. The contacts were too long in the switch so they would bend and stay together when the door opened. The original switch was very poorly made for a very expensive Maytag dishwasher. The new switch you supplied was much better quality and easily replaced the one that was installed at the factory. I was a little baffled at the... Read more
Dishwasher won't start or runs intermittently? A faulty door interlock switch prevents operation when the door latch fails. DIY repair in 20 minutes.
The full story: Dishwasher stopped running mid-cycle. When I first began troubleshooting I tried manually advancing the timer knob, and the machine would run. That led me to believe that the actual timer assembly was bad, so I replaced it. The dishwasher ran fine for a day, and then the same problem came back. This time, however, I also had to push in on the door to get it to run. I looked around online, and someone suggested that the door latch wasn't closing tightly enough. I adjusted the... Read more
Traps large food particles and debris to prevent pump clogs in your dishwasher. Replace when buildup causes poor cleaning or drainage issues.
Ordered a new screen and filter. While waiting for arrival, removed wax covered dishes. Carefully removed wax filled filter and screen cover. Stuffed paper towels in hole to absorb water and prevent wax from entering pump. Prayed ????wax had not entered pump. With plastic knife removed visible wax. Wiped out with paper towels. Used entire roll. Used hair dryer to melt remaining wax and wiped every inch of racks, wheels, glides, silverware holder, seal, floor and so forth. Oh yes I did. At 1:30... Read more
Flexible drain hose carries wastewater from your dishwasher to the kitchen drain. Replace if cracked, leaking, burst, or damaged by wear or pests.
I've opened sump housing to check for clogging but it was clean. When I removed check valve to inspect it I've found out that the round part of the valve was missing so I figured it might've blocked the water exit at drain hose or something like that. So I pulled the dishwasher out to get a full access to drain hose connector and the pump. Upon disconnecting the drain and checking its connector I indeed found the round piece totally blocking the hose and acting as a seal. I removed the piece... Read more
Dishwasher detergent dispenser won't open or latch? This module controls soap release during wash cycles. Moderate DIY repair—30 minutes, door removal.
Tried CLR to remove hard water deposits. That did not help. Ordered new dispenser. The GE series that the detergent module fits in was a little difficult to open. Finally found a video explaining the whole door had to come off in order to open it up to replace the module. Works great now. Read more
Fix a dishwasher that won't drain or keeps draining during fill. This solenoid armature controls the drain valve. DIY repair in about 45 minutes.
About a year ago my dishwasher during a cycle was emitting a horrible plastic burning smell. We stopped it mid-cycle, cleaned it out and tried to run a few more cycles after that and realized it wouldn't drain so it sat in my kitchen broken for a year. I finally got so fed up with washing dishes by hand that I took the whole dishwasher apart. Confirmed there were no blockages in any of the hoses etc. when it still didn't work I googled the problem, found this website and found that it must be... Read more
Complete lower rack assembly for dishwashers. Replace your cracked, rusted, or broken lower rack. Includes wheels, tines, and mounting hardware pre-installed.
Purchased replacement rack with wheels that were better equipped. This rack is way better than the original that was falling apart. The wheels came off and the prongs broke. This replacement part seems to be constructed well. Read more
Dispenser door won't open or stay closed? This dishwasher dispenser releases detergent and rinse aid at the right time. Moderate DIY repair.
Process was a bit more complicated than the videos I had watched online. Had to remove both front panel and control panel to get to soap dispenser. Removed wires to soap dispenser and rinse aide dispenser. Removed wire "harness" around the top and right side of dispenser. Pried back the clips to allow dispenser to be pushed out. It was helpful to have another person to hold the door open at this point. Bent clips back and reinstalled everything. New part works great. Read more
Dishwasher leaking or not filling? The water inlet valve controls water flow into your unit. Common repair for leaks at the valve connection. 10-20 min DIY fix.
Replacing the inlet valve solved the problem. The old valve was somehow clogged with white sediment. I probably could have taken it off and cleaned it out if I'd known, but replacing the valve was much easier. Took about half an hour to repair. Video walk through was extremely helpful. Great to have a working dishwasher again! Read more

Fix a dishwasher that won't wash or just clicks and hums. This pump and motor assembly circulates water during wash cycles. Moderate DIY repair.
My dishwasher was leaking and I called to have a certified technician come to diagnose the problem. I removed the kick panel from the bottom of the machine. He turned it on and we saw that water was leaking from the bottom. He said I needed a Sump kit but it wasn't in stock. The cost was $170 plus tax and labor cost was another $140. So I talked it over with dad and ordered the Sump kit, the hose clamp and a new diverter motor as mine was yellowed with age. The cost of all these parts and... Read more

Dishwasher leaking from bottom or not draining? The sump assembly collects and recirculates water. Moderately easy DIY repair from underneath.
Ordered Impeller and Shaft Seal Kit which came overnight. Easy to put in after watching the video. While installing I found that Inlet Sump was ripped and ordered the part which came overnight. Trickier to install but thought it went well. Even though Shaft Seal probably was not the problem it did need replacing. Got it put back together and water would come into the dishwasher but it would not start and pump the water to wash. Called Tech Support and got some answers but did not have time to... Read more
Seals the dryer door to prevent heat loss and maintain drying efficiency. Replace if cracked, torn, or causing uneven drying. Confirm fit with model.
I replaced the gasket. Removing the old one was not easy. I used a razor knife to cut out most of it. And then I used rubbing alcohol to soften the remaining glue and scrapped it out with a small blade screwdriver Read more
Fix three flashing lights or unresponsive buttons on your dishwasher. This control panel button assembly restores cycle selection. Easy DIY repair.
After reading through a few forums, I narrowed the problem down to one of 3 issues, the door latch, the switch assembly (control panel), or main control board. I rolled the dice on the switch assembly first. The main reason I did this was my belief the door latch was okay and because the main control board is more expensive. The removal and install of the switch assembly was pretty easy for me, and I would expect for most people that know how to use a screwdriver. When I removed the old... Read more
