I ordered a new pump on this website. They provided me with written directions as well as a video to follow along with on how to change the pump. As always it wasn't as easy as the video, but that was the mechanic no the tool! Great job on the service. Will order parts from here again. Read more

Ordered Impeller and Shaft Seal Kit which came overnight. Easy to put in after watching the video. While installing I found that Inlet Sump was ripped and ordered the part which came overnight. Trickier to install but thought it went well. Even though Shaft Seal probably was not the problem it did need replacing. The main conduit was broken and the pump connector had a hole in it. The pump also was showing signs of leaking. I completely disassembled the dishwasher cleaned everything and reassembled. The repair videos are a big help. Thank you. Read more

I drained the pump and removed coins etc from pump drain screen. This did not solve the problem, so I called Slagers, our local appliance store in Iowa City. The repair man came out two days later in the AM. He drained the pump again and checked the codes--he had to use our wireless internet because Sprint would not work from our house to determine the error code problem. He said it was the pump. I stood by the dishwasher as it went through the cycles and noted the noise only happened during the drain processes. To make this repair you have to take the dishwasher completely out from under the counter. (NOTE: print the schematic to help guide you to the location of the part and connections.) Replaced with a new Inlet Sump [WD18X213]. It was a little tedious, attaching the Inlet Sump, back to the pump, because I did the job with the dishwasher in place (not pulled out). My dishwasher was plumbed with copper pipe, so I really didn't want to upset that. Also, I had previously replaced the motor and the pump in this dishwasher, so I was familiar with how the Inlet Sump attached to the pump. I ordered a new motor through ApplianceParts Pros.com and had the new part within 5 days. The entire replacement took approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours. The repair was relatively simple and straight forward. By doing the work myself I saved over $250. Originally a GE technician quoted a price of $489 to replace the motor to repair the dishwasher. I had clogs before, so I knew this wasn't the case. When I tried the "rinse and hold" setting, the water would fill, but no sound when it tried to drain. I suspected the pump. Searching through YouTube, I found a helpful video for the GE Profile unit. In fact, the video directed me to this site for parts. I had a repairman in to check why machine had no power. I watched as he opened the door up and secured the electrical ribbon in place and lights on control panel came on. Replaced the pump and drain hose. The pump was easy. The replacement parts were identical to the bad parts. The drain hose was full of gook and smelled awful so I decided to replace that as well. The tag on the new hose alerted me to the procedure for installing a drain hose. If your dishwasher is not vented you need to create a high hose loop so that excess particles from the garbage disposal or dishwasher don't stay in the hose.
