Our 25-year-old Whirlpool dryer abruptly stopped producing heat, though it was otherwise running normally. The unit had never required service of any type and we were reluctant to replace it. Maytag Gas Dryer Model: MGDE300VW1 I had previous experience with repairing my dryers, but this was a first for this model. Instructional videos very helpful. Ordered necessary parts and they were delivered with-in two days. Wow! Squeak found to be coming from idler pulley roller which no longer turned freely . Remove upper and lower baskets for access. Remove 4 Torx screws holding drain/filter assembly, accessing last screw by rotating the water duct clockwise. Be sure to first un-clip the water duct at top and rear of dishwasher so that it can be moved. (Take the opportunity to remove accumulated deposits behind the water duct). There was a loud noise from my washer during the drain cycle. (The washer seemed to drain just fine.) It was pretty easy to determine that the noise was coming from the drain pump. I watched the video that was shown on this website to slide the top back, remove the control panel, remove the front panel of the washer, remove the old gasket (the two tension springs are easy to get off, not as easy to replace), cleaned out years of gunk and soap that had built up behind the gasket for 10 years as well as under the rollers in the drum (each roller has a screw, remove it, slide the roller assembly forward and lift up to take off the rollers, and the roller can be broken down... Removed freezer door by removing 4 bolts holding slide tracks for freezer basket. Pulled out old gasket. Soaked new gasket in hot water to smooth out a crease that resulted from shipping. Installed new gasket, starting at corners. Used a blunt tool to push new gasket into slot at the corners. Set remaining gasket material with hands. Shopped online and found your great website, read reviews and based diagnostics on similarities I saw in other peoples stories. So I was able to choose correctly when replacing the circuit board. As far as the water switch in door, and drawer parts I just replaced them because I was tired of gluing them, and knew that with everything working good again and looking good, that it would be like a Tune up for our refrigerator. Fixed it by replacing the electronic control board. Only 30 min. to fix. (See further down for effort to diagnose the problem.) Most of this "fixing time" was spent removing the control panel to access the control board that is attached to it. My freezer has the control panel located in the top center of the door. Looked up parts based on fridge model number, watched videos, and replaced parts using just a few tools... easy. Parts came quick, well packaged. After 16 years, plastic parts deteriorate and break.
