The dishes were not drying on our 5yr old LG dishwasher. After removing the front door cover, I verified that the blower motor was operational and the vent was not blocked. I removed the diswasher from the cabinet, accessed the heating element from the bottom of the unit, and found the heating element did not have continuity. Replaced with a new Inlet Sump [WD18X213]. It was a little tedious, attaching the Inlet Sump, back to the pump, because I did the job with the dishwasher in place (not pulled out). My dishwasher was plumbed with copper pipe, so I really didn't want to upset that. Also, I had previously replaced the motor and the pump in this dishwasher, so I was familiar with how the Inlet Sump attached to the pump. Then I saw the lever arm on the other half of the door, which by position had to be the way that the timer interacts with the soap dispenser. After 4 years of heavy use nearly all of the facia assembly's plastic attachment tabs were broken. This caused the facia to pull away from the door while trying to open the dishwasher. I ordered a replacement facia from appliancepartspro.com ($52 with shipping, part arrive in one day!) and installed it in about 30 minutes. I ordered a new motor through ApplianceParts Pros.com and had the new part within 5 days. The entire replacement took approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours. The repair was relatively simple and straight forward. By doing the work myself I saved over $250. Originally a GE technician quoted a price of $489 to replace the motor to repair the dishwasher. Tried bending the strike to get a firmer grip, but no luck. Replaced the door latch and strike. Washer is about ten years old. You can feel the new catch has a more positive engagement. When you replace the strike, be sure not to tilt it downward in front. It will go in the way but it will keep the door from closing. Not sure I needed to replace the strike but didn't want to risk more downtime. Read more

I ordered a new detergent dispenser and control assembly, watched a few videos on you tube and dived in. The repairs were pretty simple once I got started and while I was doing this I went the extra step and cleaned out the drain. I would suggest doing this annually. Pretty simple to do and only 5 screws to get to the drain and the grinder.
