My problem started with a rusting condition in the ice bin that spiraled out of hand. I took apart the ice bin and all the hardware thinking I could clean it with the suggested baking powder. Plastic parts cleaned up like new, metal parts were pitted. I wire brushed and sanded the parts put it all back together and gave it a try. I used the internet and checked a dry fuse, and it tested ok. Checked the start switch, ok. So it had to be the motor. Sharon at the company agreed. Motor, and belt arrive very fast. ordered the belt because, if I had it apart why not change it. Internet also helped get the dryer apart. • Won't start

Replaced igniter and orifice assembly, and replaced spark module. Used the video for help, but the video doesn't show the top cover piece that needs to be taken off first. Also the screws for the igniter set were stuck from old grease or something and had to be drilled out. Overall the project was well worth my time for the cost vs replacement decision. Watched the video here, took the leap that burner was the problem and ordered it. Also found another vid on you tube that was more specific to my Kenmore. Tip: find out how to take off the oven door. For mine it was very easy but not detailed in the APP vid. I followed instructions in APP vid but also first took off back panel of range and tested resistance of old burner to ensure that was truly the problem (as suggested by other YT vid). Replaced spark module - oven was less than two years old. Like a lot of new gas ovens, turning on any one burner to 'lite' sends sparks to all 5 top burners. The difficulty was getting to the spark module, as some generic videos show access to it from the upper panel on the back of the oven, but it wasn't there. Had to take off the entire top burner panel of the oven to get to the module, and then it was simple to replace the module by transferring the wires to the new one. I did see on... Read more

• Light not working

Went to the Internet, entered the make and model number, read possible causes, viewed videos on fixes and determined it was probably the socket. Viewed the schematic to determine the correct part number. Ordered a new socket. Received it within three days and in less than 5 minutes replaced the light socket. My tenant thought that the oven safety valve was bad, but after some research, I found that the transfer of heat from the igniter had to be sufficient enough to cause the valve to open.Your agent confirmed this and reassured me that even if the igniter was glowing, there was a 99% chance that it wasn't getting hot enough. Checked compressor windings - ok. Start relay looked no rattle or burning. Start capacitor seamed ok but hard to check. No 120VC to start relay at any time. Ordered thermistor, and electronic control unit. Figuring it was a bad thermistor not telling the ECU it was warm and to turn on the compressor.
