Ordered replacement unit. It arrived as scheduled,even came with light bulb to my surprise. Turned off breaker, Removed two hex nuts, unplugged electrical connectors plugged in to new unit reinstalled hex nuts. Turned on breakers. Wife is happy. Read more

We bought a new house that has a 15 year old GE Monogram built in fridge. Tested the power to the unit by turning on the cooktop portion and saw that I had power to all of the burners. Turned the selector knob to broil and saw that the top element would heat up. I then turned off the breaker to the unit. I then decided to take out the baking element to do a continuity test. When I touched it, a 1.5 inch section fell out. Dropped light panel by removing two screws with socket set. Unplugged two terminals and unclipped the light socket from the base. Then just clipped the new socket onto the base, plugged the connectors onto the terminals and remounted the base. Total job was less than 15 minutes. Read more

Went to the Internet, entered the make and model number, read possible causes, viewed videos on fixes and determined it was probably the socket. Viewed the schematic to determine the correct part number. Ordered a new socket. Received it within three days and in less than 5 minutes replaced the light socket. I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. Snapped the old cover off and installed the new one. Although this is a simple fix the hard part was to determine appliance product year. Apparently the part was redesigned after a certain year and two types were available.
