We bought a house with an over-the-range microwave, which just recirculated air into our house--not effective for smoky meals! We removed the microwave and cut a hole to send the exhaust out the back of the microwave (and out of our house), but realized we were missing this damper and frame that go on the back of the microwave for rear exhaust. Simply remove the screws holding the front panel, transfer the buttons to the new fascia. Replace the panel, push back the screws and viola all done. I would recommend moving the buttons one at a time so as to not get them crossed in the transfer. All told it took under 30 minutes. I also ordered a new handle strip but easily could have removed the old and reused it. I ordered a new Panel/Facia and bought replacement buttons just to be safe. All were pretty easy, but two things to BE CAREFUL about that are important. First, watch the videos about how to remove and replace the facia panel because if you do it improperly you will easily break the plastic tabs and be screwed. I ordered the new oven bottom from Appliance Parts Pros and within three days I had a brand new oven bottom. Took the old one out, the new one fit superbly. I replaced the Oven Igniter. After ensuring that it was the igniter, by turning on the stove and taking out the oven bottom. Watch if it turns red. If not, then either the wiring is faulty, or the igniter went bad. The bulb was due to a loose and broken light bulb, can't use any normal bulb, these ones are specially made to withstand the heat. The parts from AppliancePartsPros.com arrived a day ahead of schedule. (I'm a big APP.com fan.) I removed the metal front door panel, then removed the broken plastic Panel-Facia which houses the handle. Because the buttons and handle trim needed to be transferred from the old Panel-Facia to the new one, I expected that, also being plastic, they may break when making the transfer, so I ordered all of those parts as well, which only drove the cost up about $32. You need to remove the entire compactor basket, so that can be a little unwieldy. There are 8 total Phillips head screws. Two on each side of the wrap-around portion of the panel, two on the bottom of the panel, and two larger screws that are used to hold the foot pedal in place. The two lower screws on the bottom of the panel also screw through the rubber stop strip on the bottom of the basket.
