Based on feedback found on the internet, I knew it was either the control panel or control board. Ordered both and it turns out I only needed to replace the control panel. Really easy fix. Turned off the power, unscrewed the top 6 screws to open up the control panel. Removed the cover and disconnected the ribbon cable. My Maytag dishwasher model # MDB7749AWM2 has a diagnosis routine where you push 'normal wash' then 'heated dry' three times in quick succession. This made the machine cycle through all the functions. I replaced the panel, for the third time in about 7 years. its a bit sad that A) kenmore/whirlpool cannot make a control panel that can last longer than 5 years of normal household use, and B) that the panel costs $135 . so that means that the $800 kenmore sits at $1070 in price, due to the two repairs that i have made over the last seven years. this control panel is about 10 or 12 switches, with a 15 pin ribbon cable that connects to the control module. i would rate this as about a $50... Initially thinking the thermal fuse was bad, I replaced it without doing my homework. It was actually the control panel. Ordered Wednesday night, in my hands Friday afternoon. Changed the control board and keypad. An used keypad that was installed worked for a few days but was damaged by the control board. I would always change both parts at the same time with new replacements just in case. Read more
