Capacitor

Run Capacitor (Washer Motor)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH12X10513

This washer motor run capacitor stores and releases electrical energy to help the drive motor start and run smoothly. Replacing a weak capacitor can help restore consistent agitation and spin and reduce motor humming or stalling under load.

  • Provides the phase shift and torque assist the drive motor needs to start and stay running
  • Can address: washer won't start, no agitate or spin, motor only hums/buzzes, or stops under load
  • Visible clues of failure can include a swollen, cracked, or leaking capacitor case
Includes: 1 run capacitor Install notes:
  • Unplug the appliance before servicing; capacitors can retain a charge even when power is off
  • Discharge the capacitor safely before handling
  • Note wire positions; move leads to the same terminals and secure the capacitor in the original bracket/orientation
  • Inspect connectors and replace any burnt or loose terminals to ensure a tight fit

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Drum would not rotate intermittently.   Robert L. • Cary , NC • May 24, 2019

The Dryer is 10 years old GE Front Load DPVH890JEMG. The drum would intermittently not rotate at the beginning of a cycle and occasionally would rotate but then start and stop throughout the cycle. I did not check error codes, but the windings on the motor were black. So it seemed reasonable that the motor was overheating and sending a signal to the control board to stop. There is one screw under the knob and 9 screws on the front to get inside. I decided to replace the bearings, capacitor,... Read more

Microwave stopped heating or makes humming noise before shutting off? The high voltage capacitor often fails first. DIY repair in under 30 minutes.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave blowing fuse for Magnetron / high voltage circuit (humming noise prior to fuse opening).   Keith G. • Houston , TX • April 27, 2020

Main Fuse did not open, only fuse for high voltage section was opened. Prior to the fuse blowing a louder than normal hum was heard from microwave for 1-2 seconds prior. Easy fix is the high voltage capacitor, so first checked the voltage across the capacitor terminals to ensure capacitor was discharged. Typically should be reasonably discharged within 30sec-1min assuming drain resistor is still in place. Removed the high voltage cap, and checked the capacitance and did not get a reading.... Microwave High Voltage Capacitor
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 5304467671

This is a high voltage capacitor used in the microwave's magnetron circuit. It stores and releases electrical energy to help power the magnetron, which generates the microwaves that heat food. Replace this capacitor if the microwave runs but does not heat, hums loudly without cooking, or if the capacitor has visibly bulged or leaked. Always discharge the capacitor before handling, as it can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Samsung MC1055BB micro blows fuse when press start   David D. • San Diego , CA • November 11, 2018

Downloaded service manual, got over my fear of getting shocked. Found Samsung put bleed resistors in capacitor, jumped with screwdriver to confirm as per service manual. Tested diode, found a large voltage drop with 9v battery. Capacitor test failed. Called into APP to confirm, got some great advice. Ordered cap and diode, arrived next day, installed and corrected problem. This micro has conv and is built into my motorhome, I had few options, none really, but to fix and no one wanted to...
